The vegetation at this beginning is made up of resin pines and shrubs such as rosemary, durillo and cornicabra.

From this point the entire path will be downhill. We will advance along the path for about three hundred meters, and after crossing the firebreak, we will arrive at a viewpoint built in stone 3 from which we will be able to see the end of our path, the Power Station.

On the slopes of the Peñón del Lanchón, nest various birds of prey such as the griffon vulture that we can easily spot in its majestic flight in search of food.

Descent into the river

At this point we turn off the Cerrada del Utrero path along the branch that goes off to the left.

Shortly after starting, we cross the same firebreak again. We will continue the long descent for another six hundred meters until we reach the A-319 4 road, in the vicinity of the Cortijo del Valle. We will also see a fountain in which we can refresh ourselves.

The road to here is stony in some sections and the vegetation is very dense. With luck, we can observe some of the representatives of the Mediterranean fauna that prowl the area: fallow deer, mountain goat, fox or wild boar.

We continue along this road for about one hundred and fifty meters, with due caution with cars. The presence of old terraces with some fruit trees indicates the ancient agricultural use of this land.

Hydroelectric power

Not so long ago, small hydroelectric power plants were built to provide electricity to the towns in the Guadalquivir Valley.

These plants were strategically located in those places where the morphology of the terrain and the presence of permanent water made them more propitious. The force of the water of considerable unevenness was used when it went down pipes, until turbines moved, and then generated electrical energy.

This electricity was very necessary in places like Vadillo, where, apart from human consumption, the sawmill of the old RENFE was located.

Currently, with the rise of renewable energies, it is likely that many of these hydroelectric plants scattered throughout our community will once again collaborate in the energy contribution.

Power plant

Crossing Highway 5, we will enter another abandoned work area, in which holm oaks and quebrijos also abound. This landscape accompanies us for more than three hundred meters until we arrive, again, at the same road 6 but further down, near the Arroyo del Valle.

If we continue along the road to the right for another hundred and fifty metres, approximately, we arrive at the Cerrada del Utrero power station,7 , the end point of our trail.

It is a sober mini power plant, composed of stone and surrounded by poplars on the riverbank, next to a bridge. There is a small fountain where we can get a drink of water. In addition, not far from here, we can see an old mill that also takes advantage of the waters of the Guadalquivir.

Walking among the resin pines Our path begins on the JF-7091 road, very close to the crossroads that goes down to the town of Vadillo Castril (see 1 on the […]

["post-10359","senderos","type-senderos","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","entry","has-media
["GET
